- INTRODUCTION
Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Deemed University (DU), contributes significantly in the sphere of Human Resources Development for the Defence Forces by way of imparting education and training on Defence Technology to the officers of Armed Forces, Scientists of the DRDO, Technical Officers of the Ordnance Factory Board, Directorate of Quality Assurance, Public Sector Undertakings, General Public and friendly foreign countries.The University conducts M.Tech and Ph.D Programmes and offers a number of short-term courses.
- Ph.D. PROGRAMME
DIAT offers admission to PhD in the frontier areas of Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics and Materials engineering.
Eligibility:
- 55% marks or equivalent CGPA in M.E./M. Tech. for Ph.D. in Engineering or Master of Science with 55% marks or equivalent CGPA for Ph.D. in Science.
- GATE Score / UGC-CSIR NET certificate.
Candidates who are in the final semester of their PG degree are eligible to apply; Mark sheet up to the last semester should be produced during interview. Provisional passing certificate and mark sheet of the final semester are required to be submitted before commencement of program.
Selection:
Admission to Ph.D. will be based on the performance in the entrance exam (written test) conducted by the department concerned followed by personal interview. Scholarship: Selected students will be eligible for scholarship as per MHRD guidelines.

Eligibility:
- a) Qualification
55% marks or 5.5 CGPA in the qualifying examination as indicated against the disciplines concerned and valid GATE Score / UGC-CSIR NET Certificate. The qualification should have been obtained from a UGC recognized University / Deemed to be University / Institution in India. The candidates who are in the final semester of their degree are eligible to apply; Mark sheet up to the last semester should be enclosed. Provisional certificate in such cases along with Mark sheet of the final semester are required to be submitted before commencement of program.
- b) Age limit
Not more than 26 years as on July 1, 2014.
Relaxations as per GOI rules apply to SC / ST / OBC / PH applicants.
- c) Scholarship
Selected candidate will be eligible for scholarship [Rs.8000/- per month at present] under DBT Scheme of AICTE.
- BOARDING / LODGING
Selected candidates will be provided accommodation and mess facilities on payment basis and
it is mandatory that they stay in the Institute campus. The present monthly charge towards
boarding and lodging is ~Rs.6000/- (subject to revision).
- HOW TO APPLY
Candidates have to apply online through the website, www.diatonline.co.in. Application fee of Rs.200/- (100/- for SC/ST candidates) per programme is required to be paid by Demand Draft drawn in favour of Vice Chancellor, DIAT, Pune, payable at Pune. The application has to be uploaded as per the instructions provided in the website, www.diatonline.co.in.A print out of the application acknowledgement generated by the system after upload of application has to be forwarded to the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Defence Institute of Advance Technology, Pune 411 025 along with the DD drawn and with the self certified copies of mark lists, certificates and other testimonials. These documents should reach DIAT latest by 21 April 2014. Application will be processed only on receipt of the acknowledgement with DD. Also, candidates have to bring a print out of the application acknowledgement along with proof of payment, at the time of test / interview.
- GENERAL INFORMATION
- Since the applications may be short listed, mere possessing of the prescribed qualifications would not entitle a person to be called for test/interview. The Institute may restrict the number of candidates to be called for test / interview to a reasonable limit, on the basis of qualifications / marks higher than that of the minimum prescribed in the advertisement.
- For short listing of candidates, the department screening committee may prepare branch wise list (i.e. different GATE score cut-off) where Qualification requirements are various branches.
- Application once made will not be allowed to withdrawn and fees once paid will NOT be refunded on any count nor can it be held in reserve for any admission or admission process
- Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification. Postal delay shall not be entertained.
- No correspondence will be entertained in respect of advertisement, interview, selection etc. Shortlisted candidate will be informed through Email / SMS / Website regarding date of Interview / Written Test / Result. The candidates are requested to check the DIAT (DU) Website http://diat.ac.in or http://diatonline.co.in for related information from time to time.
- COURSE FEE AND OTHER CHARGES.
Selected candidates for the M.Tech and Ph.D programmes are required to pay Semester Fee @Rs.5000/- per semester (subject to revision) payable immediately on joining and a caution deposit (refundable at the end of the Programme less dues if any) of Rs.10,000/-, commencing from July 2014.
